After completion, the battery storage system will perform system-serving tasks by stabilizing the grid frequency on the one hand and improving the utilization of the grids on the other, so that more renewable energies can be integrated into the power grid overall. Due to the high storage capacity, excess energy can be stored and fed back into the grid as needed. This promotes more efficient use of renewable resources and reduces dependence on conventional fossil energy sources.

"In the transition to a cleaner energy system, battery storage plays a critical role in stabilizing the power grid and ultimately enabling a more independent and sustainable system. Through the flexibility that battery storage projects like the one in Diesdorfer Wuhne provide to the power grid, we are initiating a turnaround in the German energy system and making an important contribution to the success of the energy transition,"

says Florian Antwerpen, CEO of Kyon Energy.

The new storage facility is scheduled to be commissioned by 2025.
