European Energy has now completed the construction of Kingebol wind farm in the municipality of Åmål, Sweden. The park is up and running and has started to produce electricity. The predicted annual production from the six turbines is 108 GWh, which corresponds to 20,000 residential household’s annual consumption of electricity. Yesterday the park was displayed to media and at the same time European Energy presented new plans for the area.
– In a period of electricity shortages and high electricity prices, it feels extremely satisfying to be able to contribute with a substantial addition of new, green energy. It pressures down prices and accelerates the green transition, says Jens-Peter Zink Deputy CEO of European Energy.
The project has run according to schedule without disruptions or delays. The turbines are type SG6,2-170 HH 115, manufactured by Siemens Gamesa. The wind turbines stands at a height of 200 meters.
– The construction process has worked smoothly thanks to a very good collaboration with Siemens Gamesa and their subcontractors, says Jörgen Glemme, Construction Project Manager at European Energy.
European Energy yesterday also reveals the plans to build a solar park adjacent to the wind park. The solar park will have the capacity of 37 MWp. If the county administrative board gives green light to the project, the solar park can be completed within 12–16 months.
– Combining solar and wind in the same geographical spot is a great way to optimize electricity production. We can use the same grid connection since solar and wind power peak on different hours and seasons, says Peter Braun, Project Manager in Sweden, Norway and Finland at European Energy.
The hybrid park could, if approved, be Sweden’s first of its kind.
