41 MW order in Spain
Vestas has received a 41 MW order for the Barranco del Agua II and the Carrugueiro wind parks in Spain.
The order is placed by Green Mind Ventures, part of GreenVolt, and it includes the supply and installation of six V163-4.5 MW and three V136-4.5 MW wind turbines, as well as a 20-year Active Output Management (AOM 4000) service agreement.
“We are glad to see how the versatility of our 4 MW platform portfolio continues to suit our customers’ needs in Spain. Our full converter technology enables market-leading grid integration performance. We sincerely thank Green Mind Ventures for placing their trust in Vestas”,
says José Luis del Cerro, Vestas Country Manager in Spain.
Turbine delivery is expected by the second quarter of 2025 whilst commissioning is planned by the last quarter of 2025.
Since 1991, when Vestas installed its first wind turbine in Spain, the company has accumulated over 5.2 GW of installed capacity in the country.
99 MW project in Romania
Vestas has received a 99 MW order from OX2 for an undisclosed wind energy project in Romania. Vestas will deliver 16 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines. The order also includes supply, delivery, and commissioning of the turbines.
Upon completion, Vestas will service the turbines under a 35-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement designed to ensure optimised performance of the assets.
Taras Kachmarchuk, Vestas Sales Director for South-East Europe, says:
“We are thrilled to announce this project which is a testament to the successful collaboration we have fostered with our partner OX2 over almost two decades. This collaboration has delivered impactful wind energy projects in numerous countries across the Nordics and Europe. This project in Romania’s revitalised market brings our capacity of wind turbines either installed or under construction in Romania to more than 1,5 GW.”
Turbine delivery is expected to begin in the second half of 2025 with commissioning scheduled for completion in the first half of 2026.
144 MW order in South Africa
Renewable energy producer African Clean Energy Developments (ACED) has placed a 144 MW order for the Khangela Emoyeni wind farm, to be located in Western Cape, South Africa. The contract includes the supply and installation of 32 V163-4.5 MW wind turbines, as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
This is ACED’s second order for V163-4.5 MW wind turbines in 2024. In June, they placed a 144 MW order for the Umsinde Emoyeni wind farm, also located in Western Cape, South Africa.
Sam Cook, ACED’s Project Manager for procurement and construction, highlights,
“ACED and African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) have a relationship with Vestas which goes back to the beginning of the wind energy industry in South Africa, in 2011. We are very pleased to be placing yet another order with Vestas, in service of our offtaker Rio Tinto, our shareholders and the communities around our project.”
“We are proud to continue our collaboration with ACED in South Africa. We are also glad to see how the reliability and high-capacity factor of our V163-4.5 MW wind turbines provide our customers with the business case certainty they need for their projects in the country”,
says Managing Director of Vestas in South Africa, Novani Ganess-Johnson.
Turbine delivery is expected by the first half of 2025 and commissioning is planned for the first half of 2026.
Vestas is one of the leaders in the South African wind power market with over 1.5 GW of capacity either installed or under construction.
