Description

TotalEnergies is developing an integrated power business and renewable energy projects in Germany.

Profile

Germany is a focus market for TotalEnergies' integrated electricity business strategy.

TotalEnergies is building a competitive portfolio that combines renewables (solar, onshore wind, offshore wind) and flexible assets (CCGT, storage) to deliver clean firm power to its customers.

Presence along the entire electricity value chain in Germany

TotalEnergies is developing an integrated electricity business in Germany. The company is involved in every stage of the electricity value chain, from importing LNG and providing a regasification unit in the port of Mukran to developing projects for renewable energies and electricity storage. It also optimises the design and operational parameters of wind and solar projects with NASH Renewables and aggregates and markets the low-carbon electricity generated.

Offshore Wind

With a project pipeline of 6.5 GW of net capacity, TotalEnergies is one of the largest developers of offshore wind farms in Germany. In 2023 and 2024, the company was awarded concessions by the German Federal Network Agency for the construction of three wind farms in the North Sea and Baltic Sea (NordSee Energies 1, NordSee Energies 2 and OstSee Energies), and it is also participating in the development of two further offshore wind projects with RWE.

Onshore Wind

In the onshore sector, TotalEnergies finances, develops and operates not only large-scale solar but also onshore wind farms worldwide. Thanks to its long-standing presence in various parts of the world, TotalEnergies implements reliable and sustainable long-term projects. Following the acquisition of the Dresden-based renewable energy project developer VSB Group in 2025, 200 MW of onshore wind projects in operation as well as a project pipeline of 7 GW from BESS, onshore wind and PV were added to the portfolio.

Powerful batteries for the electricity grid of the future

Saft Batteries became part of TotalEnergies in 2016. For almost 100 years, Saft’s longer-lasting batteries and systems have provided critical safety applications, backup power and propulsion for its customers. Kyon Energy, a leading German project development company focused on large-scale battery storage systems, joined TotalEnergies in 2024. Since its foundation in 2021, Kyon Energy’s flexible grid-connected energy storage systems have contributed to a stable power grid, a strong and secure local electricity infrastructure, and energy independence.

For a reliable supply with renewable power 24/7

TotalEnergies' energy manager QUADRA connects everyone who produces, stores and uses renewable energy. The QUADRA platform is a digitally supported end-to-end management system that transforms weather-dependent electricity generation from decentralised sustainable energy sources into a secure power supply. It connects renewable electricity producers and flexibility providers, such as battery storage systems, to consumers of sustainable electricity via the electricity markets. The portfolio includes 10.4 GW of installed capacity in wind and PV farms, 17 TWh of renewable electricity production from wind and PV portfolios, and 150 MW of installed BESS capacity.
